There are various ways to explore the Guajira desert. You’ll need to book a tour to visit remote places such as Punta Gallinas and Macuira. Be cautious; some travel agencies employ inexperienced (or unpleasant) guides and jeeps in poor condition.

Best tour of my life so far!!! Wild nature and breathless landscapes where the desert meets the sea. Esnaider, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable, funny, and always keen to help. Great food and comfy accommodation. The tour is well organized in every detail, and it is worth every single peso we spent. Thank you!

What an unforgettable adventure! My fiance and sister and I took a private 3 day 2 nights tour to Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas with Vladimir and cannot recommend this highly enough. The tour was well organized and flexible. The food was surprisingly great for the middle of the desert, and the landscape was ruggedly beautiful. We learned a lot about the Wayuu culture and celebrated the New Year under the stars. Just be prepared for bumpy roads, rustic accommodations, and a Spanish-speaking guide -- that’s all part of the experience!
