To the east of Nicaragua lie three paradisiacal Colombian islands that make up the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina. If you dream of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, add any of these islands to your Colombian itinerary.
San Andrés can be reached from Bogotá or Cartagena in 1.5 and 2.5 hours by plane respectively for prices generally under 90€. This island is the gateway to this archipelago. Touristically very frequented, this destination has developed a lot of infrastructures to welcome more and more people and has, unfortunately, a little distorted the site.
Fortunately, you can take a boat or another short flight to Providencia. This island is still well protected from mass tourism and keeps all its magic, authenticity, and beauty.
Some people think that San Andrés and Providencia are similar. However, the dynamics and atmosphere are really different.
