Kitesurfing in all its forms: constant strong winds, calm water, downwind, big waves.
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure, far away from everything, in a kitesurfer's paradise. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kiteboarder, with or without your own equipment, there's a place for you. The quality of the winds and the different spots allow sessions on still water, downwind, and big waves. Everything is organized to ensure that all you have to do is kite in safety with experienced instructors.
Roadmap
5 Days
- Day 1 Riohacha > Punta Gallinas then kite in the afternoon
- Day 2 Spot la Laguna
- Day 3 Downwind la Laguna > La Boquita
- Day 4 Big waves at Taroa for those interested
- Day 5 Kite in the morning then return to Riohacha
What to expect
- La Laguna: a 3-minute walk from the Luz de Mila rancheria, with flat water and offshore winds.
- La Boquita: accessible downwind from La Laguna, with conditions similar to La Laguna, flat water, offshore winds, and a large beach in the background.
- Punta Aguja: this spot is open to the sea and has small waves, but it is still easy to kite.
- Las Dunas de Taroa: this spot, accessible by 4x4, is ideal for experienced kitesurfers looking for big waves.
The group leaves Riohacha at 5am. Check-in at the Luz Mila Rancheria is scheduled for about 11am. After lunch, it's off for the first free kite session in the Laguna for advanced kiteboarders and classes for beginners.
The day is divided into 2 kitesurfing sessions in the Laguna (morning and afternoon). In between, you can nap in a chinchorro by the beach and drink a fresh beer.
At the end of the day, head to El Faro to admire the sunset.
It's time to organize a downwind excursion to reach La Boquita Beach and Punta Aguja. The less experienced go first, and the lifeboat always stays close by.
In the afternoon, enjoy another kitesurfing session at La Boquita. There is a new class for beginners.
Today, the group splits up. The more experienced can go kitesurfing in the Taroa dunes (big waves), and the others can go on taking classes / having fun in front of Luz Mila. If you're tired of kitesurfing, you can plan a visit to the dunes or the lighthouse.
If the road back is in good condition (not too muddy), doing an early morning kite session is possible. In general, however, everyone is tired and wants to return to Riohacha.
