Less frequently visited than the east coast, the Caribbean's west coast is more authentic, with its small, peaceful villages and landscapes of white sandy beaches, jungle, and mountains. It's the perfect place for hiking, diving, and snorkeling enthusiasts and for those who prefer nature and tranquility to the hustle and bustle of the cities.

  1. Looking at a week in Quito flying down to cartagena and visiting a few islands (2weeks). Just finished tour of Central america so for first visit want chill out on different islands. Looking at August travel for good weather. Maybe taking in medallin or Bogota. Any information as to best islands and how easy it is to get to them would be helpful.

    • Hey James,

From Cartagena, you can go to the Rosario Islands (1h boat) or San Bernardo Islands (2h boat). The latter is a little less visited but I still advise you to avoid weekends.
