About Gonzalo
- Great value for money: Due to its geographic location and access methods, a stay in Guachalito can be expensive. Considering the location, the quality of the facilities, service, and cuisine, the prices are very reasonable.
- Isolated paradise: Many ecolodges in Guachalito are close to each other, which isn't the best way to enjoy this fantastic place. Gonzalo's ecolodge is set apart from the others.
- Stress-free: Upon arrival in Nuqui, someone will be waiting to take you by boat to the eco-lodge, and the return trip is handled the same way. Once there, enjoy the surroundings and decide on your activities, which your expert will help you organize with the locals.
- Eco-friendly: Gonzalo received an award for his excellent ecotourism practices. He also follows guidelines for whale watching with minimal impact on the natural environment.
- A small-scale ecolodge: Only three cabins, each with two independent rooms and a private bathroom, accommodate up to 18 people, six per cabin. In reality, there are often fewer people since not all rooms are filled. The common area allows you to recharge your cameras, phones, and other electronic equipment. Wi-Fi is also available for 3 hours a day.
- The cabins: Built traditionally with palm leaf roofs and wooden structures, they blend harmoniously into the landscape. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable and can be arranged for single, double, or triple occupancy. They feature beds with mosquito nets and solar energy for lighting.
- Well-designed: The three accommodation cabins are set in a floral garden. Additionally, this beachfront property offers numerous common areas with hammocks for napping at any time of the day.
- Delicious meals: The food is excellent! Tasty fresh fish from the Pacific paired with local vegetables. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in your stay.
- Wildlife observation: Depending on the time of year, you can see whales (even from your hammock!), many bird species, including some endemic ones, and brightly colored poisonous frogs.
- Activities: Besides wildlife watching, you can arrange hikes, visit nearby villages, canoe up rivers in traditional canoes, take surfing lessons, fish with the locals, and plan some scuba diving. The eco-lodge works with local guides and reliable motorboats.
- Languages spoken: The ecolodge staff and guides do not speak English. However, you can communicate in English with Gonzalo (better in writing) to organize your stay. He is also present at his ecolodge several months a year.
How do we choose our partners ?
We select local travel agencies that meet our requirements (languages spoken, types of activities offered, reputation, organization, legally constituted company, etc.) and then test their services.
If we’re satisfied with the service, the agency will join our network of Colombian experts, and we will add it to our Tomplanmytrip website.
When we test the services of a potential partner, we always pay at least the operational costs of the activities. We are, therefore, free to recommend them (or not) without any pressure. Our opinion is never biased.
